Our WHY
"The reason I am passionate about helping victims of domestic violence is because I am a survivor of physical, emotional, & sexual abuse by my father. Because my mom could not speak English well, she was unable to find a job and was completely reliant on our abuser for food, shelter, and all basic needs. So he spent years controlling, intimidating, and isolating her. She did not have the awareness or means to be able to do anything to change our situation. It took years of therapy for me to be able to break the cycle and recognize that I am worth being treated with love and respect.
My goal is to help other victims and survivors find their voices and overcome the trauma they experienced so they can also be thrivers with bright , loving, and fulfilled futures.” At Miko’s Place, we aspire to be a sanctuary & safe haven for individuals facing domestic violence. Our mission is to guide and empower victims, helping them not only survive...but thrive."
